Triple Falls.

>> Yesterday I went out to Triple Falls in the Columbia River Gorge with my friend Jackie Jones.

<< I've been really in my head lately. Unable to speak, not sure how to convey all I've felt. A silent darkness caught in my throat.

>> The hike was a lot more intense than I had expected. Lots of steep uphill action. The kind that makes you focus on breathing. The good stuff.

<< There is so much magic right outside our doorway, Portland.

>> I like this town a lot, but when you don't have a car it's easy to forget how close to wild you can be.

<< You can get keep as close as you want or you can disappear for weeks.

>> Yesterday I went out to Triple Falls with my friend Jackie Jones.

<< I could sit here and type out all my fears or I can tell you there is magic in those hills.

>> I choose the latter and they really ain't that far away.

<< Take time to breathe, wander mountains, run down hills, splash in the water, smell the fresh air, breathe deep, breathe again and get lost in every happening.

>> There's a magic in the forest that can't be forgotten. There's a reminder of a simpler time. Before the fox became man...

48 Stars

I saw a 48 starred United States flag today. I wanted to purchase it, but decided not to just yet.

It reminded me of another time when the United States was simpler, before the World Wars, before whatever happened in the early 20th Century that made the world more power hungry than ever before.

Something happened that shook the world. Maybe it's just fear. Maybe it was aliens.

All I know is when those two bombs were dropped on Japan there was no turning back. To contain an empire you need to instill fear. The worst kind of fear is the subtle fear. Fear to leave home.

I saw 48 starred flag today. It made me reflect. My ramblings could go on forever but there are jobs to found and life to be lived. Be free fellow Earthlings. Be Free.

Grey and Rainy

It's all misty and grey! My favorite weather ever! Yay for soggy shoe season!

I just applied to a coffee shop on the corner of N Greeley and Killingsworth called Blend Coffee. The owner Matt seemed like a pretty chill dude. Mostly it was nice to give a resume in person rather than just send an email. I like the awkward first meetings.

The walls were grey and wood. Really cool ambience and only a few blocks from the Killingsworth Bluffs! One of my favorite sunset spots. Though my roof is still better, but imagine closing up shop and biking a few blocks to watch the sun set.

Well I don't want to get too a head of myself but here's to hoping that works out.

My dad bought me a copy of "Hop on Pop". Other than "There's A Wocket In My Pocket" that's my favorite Dr Seuss book. His drawings are so fun and he was able to just make up gibberish and sell it too! What a rad dude!

Well interwebs I'd love to stay and ramble but I have to scope out more jobs on Craigslist!

I'm also willing to draw for cash if it comes to that.

Melting

Photo Mar 07, 7 54 32 PM (1).jpg

Watching friend circles overlap and melt together is fascinating. Fragmented, last minute add in conversations that you intend to last minutes that turn into hours.

Last night I went out with friends from all the spectrums. I sat close to a girl I love dearly.

We smoke. We laughed. We drank.

We sang songs at a mediocre dive bar. We doodled. I laughed until my stomach was sore.

I could go on and on but you know how it goes.

Maybe it's nothing that spectacular, but to me life is about exactly those moments.

Paint and Lamps

Cleaning and rearranging my apartment again. I need more lamps. This is certain.

In about a month or so there is going to be a lot of painting happening in this place. I don't much like these pink walls.

Also l want murals on some of the walls.

Let me know if you want to get artsy or just want to help cover these pink walls grey.

I'll provide the drinks and treats.

Snow Days (Part 1)

I haven't been blogging as much. I've been lost in my head and this winter wonderland.

I can't believe the amount of snow that's fallen. It's absolutely magical.

I haven't seen a fresh snow in 20 years at least. It feels so good.

Feels even better to share this Winter Wonderland feel with someone that i find very enchanting.

I wish I could expand on all these thoughts that go through my head but right now I'm just not able.

I've been writing fragmented words and drawing a lot. Hopefully all of this goes into this new book that has been pondering up in my head since last May and it'll make more sense.

There's a lot of fascinating creatures in the world if only you'll look. I found my forest and I hope we all can. It takes a little time sometimes but eventually sometimes, somethings just work out.

Well anyway...

Coming soon.... pictures of snow monsters!

Today!

Photo Dec 11, 10 49 34 PM.jpg

Things I did in no particular order:

  • I drank coffee.
  • I woke up and got out of bed before 9am and didn't have work today.
  • Josh and I finalized the order for the first batch of Sleepwalking shirts.
  • I made eggs and yummy toast.
  • My book was officially published and is live on the world wide interwebs.
  • I bought a pair of glittens (glove/mittens). They are made of alpaca wool.
  • i bought marshmallows and stamps amongst other random things.
  • I got a new nose ring. Nothing fancy but it doesn't have the ball thing. Yay!
  • I wandered. I wandered a lot.
  • I saw the most astonishing colors as the sun set. It's one of those moments you want to share with everyone but don't think they would get why you're losing your wits.
  • I bought a new sketch pad.
  • I drank more coffee.
  • I did a lot of thinking about things and stuff. I need to write more of this down, but I didn't want to quit moving. It was cold and there was too much to be seeing.
  • I saw Joel and Cass. They are splendid people with a very vocal cat. Kind of like Smoggie Catt but more sass. Kind of like Denver Kitty.
  • Today was a beautiful day.
  • I am still anxiously awaiting the return of the rain.
  • I drew pictures.
  • I listened to music.
  • I lived and contemplated the act of living.
  • Today I was once again thankful to live in the Pacific Northwest corner of planet Earth where everywhere I look is magic.
  • Now I will let my imagination wander to the music of Muse.

My Book! It's Published!

Aaaaah!!! Remember that book I’ve been talking about writing? It’s published!

So yeah! It’s a thing! Aaaah!!

There are many places you can buy it!

  • On my publisher’s website
  • On Amazon! (Where you can/should leave reviews!)

On my site!

Yeah from the blog you’re reading right now!

I get more money that way.

Of course that’s the only reason I’m doing this is to be rich like R.L. Stine. Duh!

Or you can go into any bookstore and ask them to order it! That is also an option!

It should be noted I won’t have my own physical copies on my person to mail/hand out until next week sometime.

You can still place an order on here if you’d like at any time.

Follow all that? I think my brain did.

Thank you to everyone: Paige, Cody, Lia who made this possible.

That really means a lot to me. The End.

Head Though: Jesus the Christ...

Like legitimately believe he's real for a moment. Like the New Testament is the written account of Jesus the Christ the actual son of one and (possibly) only god.

Still following?

The concept of "earth time" to Jesus versus "heaven time" must have been the most fascinating feels. Just let your head think on it.

I'm not hating on anyone here, just thinking head thoughts aloud.

Now do you think Jesus was just a tadpole frozen in time?

That he was sent to Earth and ingested into Mary's body and then he aged here and went to heaven as a grown up?

Or was he a grown up in heaven that was zapped to a tadpole thing?

If he thought as god and humanoid. What does a god think in the belly of a human lady?

Maybe alien abductions are aliens recalling failed inceptions. Maybe. Maybe not.

But time... time on earth is not the same in heaven. On. In. Hmmm interesting. Never thought on those things.

What did that feel like?! What is time? I think it's but another creature's number. Numbers are for grown ups. I don't much like numbers.

I think in moments.

I wonder if my "life in moments" versus "9-5 business man's clock" is comparable to Jesus's earthly venture versus heavenly life.

Hmmm... but for real this time I need to go for a walk.

Bye Bye Interwebs.

Adventuring At Mt Tabor

Today I went wandering around one of my favorite places in Portland: Mt Tabor.

Incase you didn't Mt Tabor is an extinct volcano! Just whoa!

I walked where once upon a time there there was probably nothing more than lava.

Now there are trees so tall you can't help but think you've walked into a cathedral.

It's days like this made me lust for the Pacific Northwest.

This is Cascadia.

The misty rain against my face.

The smell of the Great Sequoia trees blowing through the air.

The sound of mud being stomped below.

Baby mushrooms covering the forest floor.

The purple and gold leaves of dying plants look like something straight from Alice's wonderland.

The tree limbs look like fingers of skeletons.

The skies were grey but full of light. The clouds moved quickly.

Never once did I feel soaked.

Today was a great adventure.

Thank you Mt Tabor for making me feel at home.

Walking

Going for a walk can soothe frustration and spark imagination.

Try it. Walk a minimum of 10 blocks.

Don't look at your phone at all. Maybe try leaving the phone at home.

Keep your eyes open for animals and/or other people walking your way, random pieces of stuff cluttering the sidewalks, and listen to all that's happening around you.

There's some interesting stuff out there.

Goodbye for now interwebs; I'm going for a walk.

Shirts, Foxes, And Stuff

You may or may not have seen that my friend Josh and I have begun the endeavor of starting a clothing line.

We have begun preorders on said items as of about 5 minutes ago.

The shirts will be $25 each and that includes the shipping and all that fun stuff.

Rather than me explain all of this just watch this video of me rambling and it'll all make sense.

I really like these designs. I mean I did draw up the most of them myself.

I hope you like them and want to buy them, too.

Yesterday

  • Yesterday when I was going for a morning walk and found a "one way" street sign. It is obviously hanging on my wall now. Those are  a lot bigger than you might expect.
  • I trudged through many many leaves. It looks as though there may be only a few more weeks of leaf falling. Make sure you enjoy that, Portland.
  • I also found many little gadgets and had many conversations with Cougan that will most definitely play into greater writing material. I just have to sort it all out in my head.
  • The most adventurous part was going to Hood River with Cougan. Hood River is a small town nestled into the Columbia River Gorge;  looks like the kind of place I will train to in the dead of winter for a weekend and just let adventure happen. Not a lot there, but there's enough. It's in the gorge!!!

Steven Tyler

steventyler.jpg

It's 9 o'clock on a Friday night in October, less than a week until Halloween.

I'm drawing pictures and writing out my head thoughts in a notebook covered in magazine cutouts of Mount Hood.

I'm blaring Aerosmith because why not, eh?

And then it hit me...

Steven Tyler really is my inner monster and I think I'm finally okay with that.

Wallet and Other Miscellaneous Brain Thoughts

I found my wallet; it never left the pocket of my work pants.

Which yes, that means I walked aimlessly through the Northwest Portland for an hour last night. Never mind that. It was a pleasant walk even if it was half a blur.

Other Miscellaneous Brain Thoughts!
  • Anyway... I need to finish these edits for this book.
  • Also eggs and hash browns must also be made.
  • And then Jordyn's party is tonight.
  • Also, I miss playing music on a stage with people. A lot more lately.
  • Listen to the song I posted above. Yay Tame Impala!
  • Also, it's beautifully Fall all around Portland and I love it.
  • Loving the smell of lavender more than ever. I think it smells better in the Fall.
  • Harnessing my brain powers is the greatest endeavor I've ever taken.  It keeps me very amused.
  • If you are reading this on tumblr go to my website fools!
  • Time to be productive!
  • Bye!

Pumpkin Carving / Martha Gets A Helmet

Last night I went to my friend Ellen's house. There were many new faces of very nice people. I sat around a fire a lot.

I really wanted a bonfire for my birthday, but had discontinued the thought because it didn't seem very realistic. Well It wasn't a bonfire but I was more than satisfied with being able to sit by a fire and conversate with good folk while drinking the beer.

Anyway...We carved pumpkins, even roasted seeds alongside the fire.  It was great!

About Martha... She had this idea that she needed a helmet. You know "just  incase a pack of wild unicorns charge through the house". I've never heard of such but Martha, she has her paranoias.

I didn't want her to feel worried when she sits inside the house alone. So we made her a helmet. I must say it fits her very well. It even fit me, but I couldn't see out of it.

I would most definitely be impelled by the wild pack of unicorns IF they somehow saw their way through my house.

I don't think they could get past Smoggie Catt, but Martha doesn't understand Smoggie Catt's magic yet.

My Favorite Trees

These 4 trees are my favorite trees in all of Portland. I watch them change season to season.

They line the sidewalk by the parking lot beside my place of work. I often sit outside for at least a portion of my breaks and admire them or just from the cash register on those extra rainy days.

From green to red, until all the leaves fall off, and they start over again. First really thin and green then full blown greenery again. It's really quite fascinating.

And right now they are the most beautiful fall colors. It's so hard to capture how amazing they really are, but I think this is my best attempt.
