mewithoutyou

cantaloupe and i don't avacado

to wander, to ponder, to wonder, and to be free.

that's where I am this morning.

i got up and met a friend at 8 o'clock this morning. We tend to cross each other's paths about once a year. this is the second time this year. second time this week. thanks for the motivation to get out of bed before the last minute, chica.

I'm headed to work at 11am. Making subs in Old Town, Portland, Oregon this morning.

Then I really have to figure out all the logistics of getting an Oregon ID. The testing isn't the hard part. It's finding all the proper documentation, at the moment.

Tonight I go see my favorite band, mewithoutyou, at Hawthorne Theatre. They are playing their first full length, beginning to end. It's called "A->B Life" which has had a great impact on my life. I mean my name is humbly inspired by that record. It's also the album that introduced me to Rumi.

"put music to our troubles and we'll dance the night away..."

"...and i'll live without you love, but good is one glove without the other?"

Alright fellow earthlings, time to focus and get my ass to work. Be free.

June 20, 2015 // mewithoutYou

Last Saturday night I went and saw mewithoutYou play at the Hawthorne Theatre.

I almost didn't get in because my ID is pretty jacked up. I just need to invest in an Oregon ID already.

Anyway they played a handful of new songs from their album Pale Horses that came out on the 16th of this month. I recommend it. It's a very multilayered album.

Lyrically Aaron takes it to a whole new level of i'm not completely sure yet.

Musically the tone has many parts reminiscent of old songs, yet still has a new twist to them as well.

The show was good though. The crowd bugged me out a bit because they couldn't keep a beat for anything, but at least they tried i guess.

2007

Time to go dance in circles and watch mewithoutYou play "Catch For Us The Foxes" in it's entirety. Feels like 2007 more and more everyday.

" All circles presuppose they'll end where they begin but only in their leaving can they ever come back around."

Snow Days (Part 2)

The snow is melting away now. Yesterday was very icy. Each step sounded like thunder as I stepped through the layer of ice to the mushy snow below.  Icicles were falling off trees on the walk home from work. Now it's mostly mush outside.

There's been on and off mistiness in the air and the skies are grey! The rainy grey days have finally arrived I think.

Also other head thinking. It was fun sticking my head out the window and feeling the cool air blow through my hair and listening to snow melt off the trees and rooftops.

Also tonight I get to see mewithoutYou and I couldn't ask for more ideal weather! This will be my first time seeing them since moving out west and also the first time since the release of Ten Stories!

Beyond excited! Every moment I see them is much needed and well remembered. I'm sure in a few days when I've had time to mellow I can expand on this excitement.

Right now I'm in super mellow head spot.

I've waited about 5 years to see them live again!!!! Aaaaah!!

It's All Crazy. It's all False. It's All A Dream. It's Alright.

Upon the first listen to mewithoutYou's "It's All Crazy. It's all False. It's All A Dream. It's Alright." album in a great while; I must confess appreciating it's tone a lot more so than ever before.

Aaron Weiss is so brilliant. They all are, but Aaron's brain and translation of the arts deserves more gratitude than it receives.

Yesterday / My Song Of The Day

Yesterday...

I don't know exactly all that happened ; there was a river and a trail, some beautiful trees, and a snail shell. I took pictures of the snail shell, but I seem to have lost my phone. If you try to call it you probably won't get me. The sunset was quite majestic. The hike was nice. The hills were taller than I expected. It was those yellow leaves.

Fall! Fall is coming!!! I can smell it in the air right now.

I'm at work now; I will find phone later.

None of that matters right now. Listen to mewithoutyou!

I miss making music. I need a keyboard, a tambourine, and a microphone.

"If you're still looking for a blanket; Sweetie, I'm sorry, I'm no sort of fabric but if you need a tailor then take your torn shirt, and stumble up my stairs and mumble your pitiful prayers. And in your tangled night's sleep, our midnight needles go to work. Until all comfort and fear flows in one river, down on the shelf by the mirror where you see yourself whole and it makes you shiver..."
