politics

handful of fools

i walked down towards the Pearl last night. for those not living in Portland, that is a really nice and well moneyed neighborhood in the NW quadrant of town.

Last night was night 3 of protests against Donald Trump. A handful of people decided it was a good idea to take baseball bats to businesses and spray paint on others.

Donald Trump is our president elect. Unless we seriously find a way to not make that be, that is our reality. Busting up buildings is not a way to solve such things.

To the handful of fools, mark my words, if you are not careful, these outbreaks justify martial law. The feds have a lot of power right now. It's a time to be patient and observant, not foolish.

In other news it's really creepy how Donald Trump has head next to no press near him at the moment. Keep your eyes and hearts open, friends.

my friend, Cass, was part of a Bernie Sanders themed art show last night.

Below art pics of the prints, contact her on Instagram if you're interested in one.

i contributed some word for the second print. it felt good to write out my feels about the current politics so thoroughly.

I encourage you to read it, if you wonder why I support Bernie Sanders more than any other candidate.

Oregon and Kentucky primaries are tomorrow.

Keep your hopes up, friends.

Bernie Sanders in no way can solve all our crazy problems on his own, but he has the servitude to start trying.

Combine that with people rallying together and we can do whatever we want.

Life Lately

My heart is scattered

No metronome

Compass focused

But still searching for home

I bought a PA system finally. That means I sing at an audible volume with the dudes I've been jamming with.

I don't know what's to become of this endeavor but I feel really good about it.

I've met a lot of interesting artists folk this past week.

One dude, Ellery, gave me quite the list of music to check out. I forget the other dude's name in this moment but fairly sure it began with an A.

I love Belmont.

Also a guy named Josh who reminded me of a cross between Edward Snowden and Morpheous.

Basically a badass ink and paper artist who I hope will contribute to zzzwalking so you guys can see his genius ness.

Besides that making coffee and bits of art. Oh and still plowing through Slaughterhouse by Vonnegut. That shit is intense!!

Trying to write but the words fall short lately. So it goes.

Also a lot of interesting stuff is happening in the world:

Baltimore, Nepal, Iran, China, not to mention all the mayhem about to ensue from election season in the homeland.

Be free Fellow Earthlings.

Head Thoughts

It's kind of like a puppet show but more frustrating.

Maybe it's over fabricated in my head.

But we tried to attack Syria sometime back.

Don't ask me when I don't do so good with keeping up with time and politics.

I follow the basics. I follow intuition.

I take care of me and my own.

Less is more.

Anywho people kind of got worried. Drone talk was a pretty new scare I believe.

But now their is a big bad wolf in Syria and Iraq again.

Also at some point this 10 years I've been hearing about how the fucking troops are coming home.

That's a decade of my life man.

Enough time for us to live in fear and get lost in a whole new world of... stuff.

It all started with the War in Afghanistan.

Makes sense. Attacked by terrorist, that's hypothetically where the big bad wolf is.

A couple years later we get magic phones and social media

Every year there's a shinier and shinier toy and a quicker and quicker way to the interwebs

I'm not saying all these toys are bad. I think they're the best weapon we have.

Going back to now:

10 years later

New iphone 6 and now a some magical, future watch, gadget... thing.

Now Obama has stated he has the power to do what he needs in Iraq and Syria without Congress.

His speech is at 9pm tomorrow.

This is just moments before the 9/11 moment.

I'm not asking you to live in fear.

I'm just asking you to tune in and listen.

I'm going to listen, but it don't feel right in my stomach man.

I'm shocked I've been able to hold focus to still be typing words.

Also a news clip I watched with the Prime Minister dude in the UK said the war over there would take a long time. He spoke in decades I don't remember whether plural or just one.

But I've already seen a decade of this repetitiousness.

Change is happening.

Even if it's another 10 years of fear and high tech gear.

It'll be more intense. The interweb is still very new to us.

Maybe I just have to much hope in man.

Take time to look up at the stars.

If you read this far, we're gonna be alright.

Be Free!

Words

Remember a year or so a go. Maybe it was less. Maybe it was more. I'm not so good with time you guys...

But do you remember when Obama let congress decide whether we attack Syria or not because we started a little rumble but somehow we still weezeled our way in there.

It don't feel right guys. It don't feel right at all. I think the time to get rowdy is becoming more and more unavoidable.

I gotta go make some more coffee. Just think about it for me. Be free!

48 Stars

I saw a 48 starred United States flag today. I wanted to purchase it, but decided not to just yet.

It reminded me of another time when the United States was simpler, before the World Wars, before whatever happened in the early 20th Century that made the world more power hungry than ever before.

Something happened that shook the world. Maybe it's just fear. Maybe it was aliens.

All I know is when those two bombs were dropped on Japan there was no turning back. To contain an empire you need to instill fear. The worst kind of fear is the subtle fear. Fear to leave home.

I saw 48 starred flag today. It made me reflect. My ramblings could go on forever but there are jobs to found and life to be lived. Be free fellow Earthlings. Be Free.

The Gods Will Be Dead Before We Reach Them

It is not until we forget the expectations of our generation; to work, to love, and to multiply that we will be free to fly with the eagles, run with the antelopes, and sing with the birds.

It is not until we connect with the former world, respect the fragility of the present, and the potential of the next that the magic of the ancients will be revealed to us.

We as a specie (manimals that walk on two feet and think with logic and reason) have attained the greatest technology in recorded history but have forgotten we too will eventually be history.

With all that knowledge we should be more fixed on preserving the world we have worked so hard to understand rather than extracting all it's resources like there is no more tomorrow.

Religions come and go. Polytheism is largely a thing of the past. The age of monotheism is the "modern way". Christianity leads the way with the greatest numbers in monotheism right now. Islam is a close competitor. Maybe in the next hundred years or so Islam will be the new major religion of the world.

What I'm trying to say is that none of that matters. We should accept it for what things as they are and agree to disagree. I’m not saying any of the said religions are right necessarily. I honestly think they aren’t, but if they give people purpose and they aren’t hurting anyone let them do what they want.

We are intelligent beings. The Greatest? That’s debatable, but we make great buildings, gadgets, and road systems that have mapped much of the known world. But our specie’s time as "king" is so relatively minute in the grand age of our planet.

We are absolute nothings, but that is where we should find humility and look to be all we can be. It's true we are but a blink in time so why not let petty arguments rest and worry about the bigger things? We should strive for greater goodness.

If one meteor crashed into Central China the entire world’s economy would be thrown into chaos. Think about in just the United States how many products are branded “Made In China”. Think of the minerals that are harvested there for your fancy technology or the numbers of people that labor away to make the clothes on your back that would no longer exist.

It could happen anywhere. In the blink of an eye and destruction and devastation; we think just because we are so evolved the universe will not throw us curveballs. We should know better. Nature is a fierce beast who does what she wants. The Earth is ever changing; even if ever so slowly it’s still evolving. We use to be a planet of fire and rock and now we are lush with vast, blue oceans.

There was a time when Dinosaurs ruled the world. They were a “great” species as well, but then they were wiped away by a meteor and never returned. That was a long time ago you may say.

I would have to agree. That is very true. But who’s to say that wouldn’t happen to us? We are just one minor specie on a minor planet in a universe amongst thousands of universes. Take solace and humility in that. Live life to the fullest, but also respect the great web of nature that we are a part of.

With great knowledge also comes responsibility. Let’s be more resourceful with what we have on this planet. Treat the other creatures that we share this planet with some respect. If you are still enough you can understand them. Those who came before did.

I think it’s very probable that our planet will go traumatic experiences that will change everything we know. So while protecting our home it is also only reasonable to search out the prospect of new ones. Obviously there is plenty here, but we are soaking it all up fast.

And even with all these thoughts I know that humans will still fight, and they will still wage war. That’s the animal in us all. That’s a whole other rambling of thoughts for a later time.

As for now the only true gods I know of that have any validity and dependability are the stars. They have lit the skies for millions of years. They have been a source of directions to sailors and nomads. They tell us about ourselves; even directly affect our personalities.

The Sun for instance is just a super star that gives us life. A star so great we can’t look at it with our bare eyes or we’d go blind. Without it we’d have no life at all. Even still with all its awe inspiring power our sun is not unique. There are many suns and many stars in the numerous galaxies beyond our comprehension.

We should be aiming to live amongst the stars. After all we are all star stuff anyway. Made up of the many chemicals and scientific stuff that I a commoner know nothing about except the same thing we are made of is what is in outer space and everywhere. We were just fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to take on this form. I’d be talking gibberish if I attempted to get into that.

Let us go strive to go back to which we came and put our petty wars aside. Let’s reach for the gods. The gods that will be dead before we reach them; that’s pure science, but that doesn’t mean we should stop the pursuit of a greater goodness.
