espresso

not quite 2018 yet

the internet is a crazy place. don't forget to localize and harmonize. this place is only secondary. #ifyawannarevolution

that being said, i go through phases with the internet since my last band ended back in Florida. If I am going to be a part of it, I keep it genuine. I do intend to engage more this upcoming year via interwebs. More posts. More rambles.

These days I am remembering espresso and internet were my first vices and dropping some of the more recent.

Starting with tobacco. It's a waste of my money and a distraction from singing out and being fully in the moment. My hands don't fidget as much. What's that about? Not cool.

I bought Smoggie Catt a "space box" for Christmas, at least that's what we're calling it. It's a diamond shaped box with all sides being cardboard scratch posts except one that she can climb in and scratch or sleep in.

I started reading 1984, it's taking me a moment to get into. Thus my typing and internetting at the moment. Maybe I had too much coffee. Either making use of all this energy while doing as the doc said and being still for few days. That's hard to do.

My friend Jackie Jones is on her way to town. She lives in Washington but we met in Portland. I've blogged about her before.

I'm going to write some words and draw on paper not web now.

Red E Cafe

I went on a bike ride just a little bit ago.

I biked up Mississippi Avenue. I have to admit it looks a lot better on a bike than it does walking down the sidewalks.

Along the way I ran into my old neighborhood coffee shop; Red E. I know there are many more coffee shops I need to try in Portland but this one is my favorite thus far. It just FEELS right.

It feels like I want my common area of my home to feel. It's simplicity of wood furniture and wood floors are key to the atmosphere I think.

But the baristas... they're all so unique; subtle enough but easily remembered. It never feels stressful in there. I've seen the cafe full of people and it never feels like they are working. Don't get me wrong they're on point, but their isn't the sense of anxiety that you get at some coffee establishments.

Espresso And Morning Words

Since moving to Portland I have increased my espresso intake 100 fold. I have also come to the conclusion I do not like Starbucks espresso at all.

I have to add mad amounts of cinnamon and half & half to give an appealing taste; where most local shops I can drink my americano as is.

I can't wait for people to hear the music works. It's matured a lot since the Nausicaa days, but still does what Nausicaa does best.

Cody has been writing some insanely amazing riffs and Adam's drumming is more tamed than ever before and as you probably know; the only things scarier than an angry bear is an angry bear held in a cage.

All and all the music is giving me all the feels, and I can't wait to share it with everyone.  Also I plan to post a snapshot of my book tonight after work. So be on the lookout for that.

Flying Cat Coffee Shop

In my ongoing quest to find the ultimate coffee shop in Portland, Oregon I happened upon Flying Cat Coffee Shop today. As you probably know my best friend is a black cat thus making this a must check out.

The presentation wasn't try hard like some Portland shops. It was nice; pleasant and simple. Kind of like sitting in your grandma's living room with a restaurant in it. The kind of place you want to get away and get some work done. Not the kind of place you find a lot hipsters trying to impress their friends. There wasn't a lot of people in there when I went, but I presume it's a very family friendly shop.

My coffee was pleasant, but my favorite part was the pastry. They also serve breakfast food and sandwiches but I did not that this go round. Maybe another time, but definitely recommend this shop.

Numbers.

3 more days of work before I leave to meet Adam in Texas.

Then I get 8 days off of work.

Hopefully I hear back from the guy about potential apartment guy before I leave for Texas. At which time we will owe 400, 900, or 1800 for apartment a deposit.

Hopefully only 400 because I had $300 in my account on Friday, but now I'm a lot closer to $200.

I get paid on Friday, April 26th, but I'll be out of town by that time.

My paycheck should be at least $500.

I saw 11 people under 1 portion of 1 bridge on my way into work this morning.

Cody says I can take my hair product in my carry on bag if it's under 4 ounces.

I thought it was 3 ounces, but he's probably right because he retains information better than myself.

My americano had 3 shots of espresso.

I need to do 2 loads of laundry.

I still need to shower and wash my hair before my trip, but I don't remember when I showered last. At least 7 days now, right? I really don't know. Oh well.

Whilst writing these words I listened to David Bowie sing "Five Years".

The End.

I discovered a new coffee shop!

Well... new to me. I have lived half a mile from this shop for 6 months and just checked it out for the first time a couple days ago.

The coffee shop is called The Arbor Lodge. It's located at the corner of N Interstate Ave and N Rosa Parks Way.

They serve locally roasted coffee and locally made pastries. Both really tasty and at a nice price. And they know about their product, too. C'mon it's Portland, Oregon. You have to know your stuff.

The atmosphere is awesome. It feels like you're hanging out in your living room. I felt very relaxed and productive during my time there. And every song that played overhead sounded like it was stole from my Itunes. Highly recommend checking this place out!
