autumn

Yesterday

  • Yesterday when I was going for a morning walk and found a "one way" street sign. It is obviously hanging on my wall now. Those are  a lot bigger than you might expect.
  • I trudged through many many leaves. It looks as though there may be only a few more weeks of leaf falling. Make sure you enjoy that, Portland.
  • I also found many little gadgets and had many conversations with Cougan that will most definitely play into greater writing material. I just have to sort it all out in my head.
  • The most adventurous part was going to Hood River with Cougan. Hood River is a small town nestled into the Columbia River Gorge;  looks like the kind of place I will train to in the dead of winter for a weekend and just let adventure happen. Not a lot there, but there's enough. It's in the gorge!!!

Wallet and Other Miscellaneous Brain Thoughts

I found my wallet; it never left the pocket of my work pants.

Which yes, that means I walked aimlessly through the Northwest Portland for an hour last night. Never mind that. It was a pleasant walk even if it was half a blur.

Other Miscellaneous Brain Thoughts!
  • Anyway... I need to finish these edits for this book.
  • Also eggs and hash browns must also be made.
  • And then Jordyn's party is tonight.
  • Also, I miss playing music on a stage with people. A lot more lately.
  • Listen to the song I posted above. Yay Tame Impala!
  • Also, it's beautifully Fall all around Portland and I love it.
  • Loving the smell of lavender more than ever. I think it smells better in the Fall.
  • Harnessing my brain powers is the greatest endeavor I've ever taken.  It keeps me very amused.
  • If you are reading this on tumblr go to my website fools!
  • Time to be productive!
  • Bye!

Pumpkin Carving / Martha Gets A Helmet

Last night I went to my friend Ellen's house. There were many new faces of very nice people. I sat around a fire a lot.

I really wanted a bonfire for my birthday, but had discontinued the thought because it didn't seem very realistic. Well It wasn't a bonfire but I was more than satisfied with being able to sit by a fire and conversate with good folk while drinking the beer.

Anyway...We carved pumpkins, even roasted seeds alongside the fire.  It was great!

About Martha... She had this idea that she needed a helmet. You know "just  incase a pack of wild unicorns charge through the house". I've never heard of such but Martha, she has her paranoias.

I didn't want her to feel worried when she sits inside the house alone. So we made her a helmet. I must say it fits her very well. It even fit me, but I couldn't see out of it.

I would most definitely be impelled by the wild pack of unicorns IF they somehow saw their way through my house.

I don't think they could get past Smoggie Catt, but Martha doesn't understand Smoggie Catt's magic yet.

My Favorite Trees

These 4 trees are my favorite trees in all of Portland. I watch them change season to season.

They line the sidewalk by the parking lot beside my place of work. I often sit outside for at least a portion of my breaks and admire them or just from the cash register on those extra rainy days.

From green to red, until all the leaves fall off, and they start over again. First really thin and green then full blown greenery again. It's really quite fascinating.

And right now they are the most beautiful fall colors. It's so hard to capture how amazing they really are, but I think this is my best attempt.

Stuff and Things

The last few days of weather have been wonderful. Barely reaching the 70's, pleasant breeze, and sunny. Perfect mid day napping weather I must say.

What's happening these days? I cleaned my house.. mostly. That's a good thing.

I've been feeling feels that words are falling short of describing. I'm going to start compiling work for a second book in the next few weeks. Mostly I want to get the first one printed before I start sorting through notebooks of old writings again.

I got new headphones from my aunt and uncle. They are really nice. Really clean and pure sound.

Also I'm working on getting this clothing line launched. I will have a promo video to explain that process in a little over a week.

I think I'm finally getting back into my routine since being back from Virginia. It's been a lot of figuring out of things.

Also I have a couch now. Making my living room a lot more interesting place.

Listening to a lot of Deerhunter and Alt-J lately.

The leaves in Portland are absolutely amazing. I have opted out of not taking photos a lot of the time and just enjoying their presence.

Hmmm... I think that is all for now. Enjoy Fall!

These Days

These days been going fast. These days are memories that will last.

Got back from Virginia just over a week ago. Been surrounded by all kinds of genuine people every since.

Taking all the necessary steps to get my book published this November.

Getting ready to go to start a new venture with my friend Josh Bermudez.

Went out with my friends Cougan Smith and Paige on Saturday night for drinks. They are just good company no matter what the occasion. Then drunkenly eating Roxy’s at 2am.

Roxy’s is one of just a few 24 hour diners in Portland, Oregon; a lot of personality in this place and good food, too.  A perfect place to kind of try and sober up.

Then Sunday I went to Cathedral Park in St Johns portion of Portland. It’s name is very fitting. The archways of the bridge are huge. From the bridge are good views of Mt Hood and Mt St Helens.

It’s well aged and there are lots of good nooks for escaping to read a book. I even saw not even big enough to walk with a Mohawk!

And now… now I’m at the airport in Charlotte, North Carolina. I was here just over a week ago flying back from Virginia. This time I’m in transit to Orlando, Florida to see my friends and Portugal. The Man.

Oooooh I finally listened to the newest The Strokes album yesterday. More like listened to it 3 times! So good! That falsetto! What?!? More on that in a later blog; I have a plane to catch.

I’ve got so many words running in my head to write. It  feels so good to be alive. I feel like I can’t write them fast enough. Just gotta take things one moment at a time.

Portland Rain

Yesterday it was grey, the temperatures were in the mid 60's, and it the sky was drizzly.

I love the rain so much. It makes me feel so good. It soothes my soul more than I could ever describe.

Walking through the dampened downtown streets, talking to random street walkers for brief moments was purely magical.

I know it has to warm up again, but Autumn magic is on her way. September 22nd is the first day of Autumn. I love the feeling of coats and warm covers; reading books and watching informative TV shows.

I especially like Smoggie Catt seems to be enjoying the outside. I leave the backdoor cracked and she keeps going out, smelling the crisp outside air.

This Summer has been great. I'm thankful for everyone who was a part of it, but I strive in the grey rains. Bring it Portland; bring the magic.

OOohhhh and I found a really magical acorn on the walk home last night. Probably the most magical one since arriving here.

Okay now I need to get dressed to go volunteer for MusicFestNW and I need to find some coffee. Definitely need to find some coffee; my thoughts feel scattered and I'm feeling too mellow to do real work.

Grey / Rain / Autumn / Yay!

The grey and the rains returned yesterday and it made this fox very very happy indeed.

I just need the temperature to go down another 10 degrees.

I can smell it; Fall is on her way.

Pumpkins, cinnamon, orange leaves, and crisp air!

It's not that far away! Yay!
